Statement on comments by Chris Parry of Independent Schools Council
Philip Parkin, General Secretary of Voice: the union for education professionals, which represents staff in both maintained and independent schools, said: "Comments on the state education system should be made by those who have knowledge and experience of that system.
"It’s not surprising that many in the maintained sector were upset by the tone of his comments.
"However, promoting the independent sector is Mr Parry’s job and controversial statements make good publicity."
