Voice “puts customers first”

Customer First has announced that Voice: the union for education professionals has been re-accredited to the 'Putting the Customer First' Standard.

The independent union, which represents teachers, head teachers, lecturers, education support staff and childcarers across the UK, is the only union in its sector to have been awarded the Standard.

When it first achieved the Standard in 2009, Voice had to commit to, and be assessed against, Customer First’s criteria, including:

  • identifying and meeting customers’ needs
  • dealing effectively with complaints and queries
  • developing and improving services; and
  • developing staff skills.

The union was recently reassessed to ensure its ongoing commitment and adherence to the Customer First Standard.

General Secretary Deborah Lawson said:

"We are delighted to have been re-accredited. This achievement recognises the hard work and dedication of our staff at our head office in Derby, our Edinburgh office, and across the UK.

"Our success as a union is based on our commitment to our members. We have always prided ourselves on providing a dedicated and personal service and striving for quality in everything we do.

"We know from members how much they value Voice membership. Being re-accredited for this Standard demonstrates our commitment to our members and to making a positive difference to them."
