Membership Criteria

 


Teachers/Lecturers/Heads

An applicant shall qualify for membership if s/he:

  1. is recognised as a qualified teacher by the DfE (including the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish Education Departments) or equivalent departments; orworks as a teacher at a school or other educational institution recognised by the DfE (including the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish Education Departments)
  2. or equivalent departments; or
  3. is recognised as a person qualified to teach by any other body deemed by the Voice Council to have appropriate professional standing.

Childcare & Support Staff

An applicant shall qualify for membership if s/he meets one of the following:

  1. holds a recognised professional qualification i.e.aCYPWD/CACHE QCF or equivalent; or
  2. has completed a one year full-time or two year part-time childcare qualification; or
  3. has a minimum of 3 years’ childcare experience (submit CV + professional reference from current employer); or
  4. is contracted to work in support of teaching, learning or childcare provision within a school or other educational establishment; or
  5. provides peripatetic education services in support of teaching, learning or childcare provision for a school(s) or other educational establishment(s); or
  6. has a recognised qualification and/or relevant experience and either provides or supports the provision of education, training instruction or assessment on a course leading to the awards of a recognised qualification.

Membership is not available for childminders.


Nannies

To qualify for Nanny membership the applicant must meet the following:

  1. is a qualified Nanny, i.e. NVQIII or above in Early Years or equivalent with an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly known as CRB disclosure).  (Membership is not available for self-employed nannies or nannies working for more than two families.)
