Schools lose out on £384 million because of failed “ideological experiment”

Commenting on news that the Treasury took back £384 million originally promised for schools in England after the Government’s compulsory academisation programme was scrapped, Voice General Secretary Deborah Lawson said:

“There is a funding crisis in our schools. It is shameful that hard-pressed schools, their staff   and pupils should lose out on £384 million because of the failure of an ideological experiment and a U-turn by a chop and change Government.

“That money should be invested in our children’s education, not hoarded by the Treasury.”
