Joint union response to STRB’s 27th Report: Letter to Secretary of State for Education and Voice’s consultation response

Joint union letter

Summary:  This letter sets out a joint response from the signatory unions. As statutory consultees, each of the organisations may also choose to exercise their right to respond independently.  Unions call on Secretary of State to listen to the teaching profession.  The STRB clearly shares the unions' concerns about teachers’ pay and teacher supply.  Urgent and effective action is now needed to address the major problems which are highlighted in its report and in our organisations’ evidence to it.

Voice's consultation response

Summary: Voice notes and supports the Review Body’s conclusion that “we consider it likely that further uplifts of more than 1% will be required to elements of the pay framework in the coming years”. We also note their recommendation that the Department review the current national pay framework for classroom teachers and look forward to contributing to this review and to future remits.
