Nanny Information Pack

All you need to know about working as a Nanny (May 2014)

“Many nannies new to the profession expect to work for an affluent family, to have expensive trips abroad, and to be provided with a car, assuming that, when gained a little experience from such a job, they will be able to seek their fortune working as a nanny abroad. This is seldom how it turns out.”

“Working as a nanny is extremely demanding and very rewarding. It can also be stressful, particularly if the position is live-in, because the workplace is also home.”

“It is believed that nannies care for an average of two children, most of whom are aged between 0-3 years, and that a nanny usually stays in placement for just over a year.”

“It is essential to have adequate insurance cover. A nanny is probably the most vulnerable of all childcarers.”

The myths and realities of working as a nanny, and employing a nanny, are set out in the revised and updated version of Voice’s nanny information pack, All you need to know about working as a Nanny.

The pack includes information on the job, insurance, agencies, interviews, DBS checks, guidelines for employers, an employment contract, salaries, tax and National Insurance.

All you need to know about working as a Nanny is free to Voice members and £5 (incl p&p) for non-members.
