Voice - the union for education, early years and childcare professionals
Unfortunately, at work, things can go wrong when you least expect it, and that is why we are here.
As a member, you can rely on Voice as a firm but friendly union to support you throughout your career and fight your corner. Voice has made it our mission to support, protect and listen to our members throughout their career.
We believe that everybody has a right to be heard but that not every member is the same, which is why we don’t offer a one size fits all solution; at Voice, we’re dedicated to providing a personalised service to each of our members.
The non-strike union
We prefer the force of argument rather than the argument of force. At Voice, we believe in the power of negotiation and legal action, not industrial action to protect the interests and concerns of our members. Our members are as dedicated to supporting the development of the children they teach and care for as they are passionate about pursuing a fair and rewarding workplace. That’s why we’ll never ask our members to go out on strike. We support our sector instead through protest and negotiation.
Our success as a union is based on a commitment to our members and we frequently go beyond what’s expected to find new ways to support them. We negotiate with government departments, local authorities and private employers to seek recognition for education and childcare professionals. This is assisted by our strong position in government working groups and consultation forums.
Our goal is to ensure your place of work is somewhere you feel valued, secure and rewarded. Voice deals with the agitating, the arguing, the negotiating and the planning, giving you the freedom to get on with what matters most – your job.
Voice’s Core Values
The strength of negotiation
At Voice, we believe in the power of negotiation to protect the interests of our members – who never resort to industrial action.
Truly independent union
Our independence from the S/TUC and non-affiliation to any political party means our thoughts and actions are dedicated to our members.
Supporting children, protecting ourselves
We’re responsible for the children we educate and care for, and it’s essential that we support them alongside protecting ourselves.
Every member is unique
All of our members are professionals fulfilling an important role in education, early years and childcare, so it’s important that we provide a dedicated and personal service, and strive for quality in everything we do.
