The Welsh Government, through the National Procurement Service, has implemented a new framework for supply agencies covering education staff that seeks to increase the number of agencies operating throughout Wales and to protect the supply staff working in schools in terms of pay and conditions.

Agencies and schools are not obliged to use the framework but, should schools choose to employ supply cover via an agency, the National Procurement Service and the Welsh Government are keen to encourage them to use agencies appointed to the framework to meet their needs.

If you are working as a supply teacher, you may find the answers to these FAQs (prepared by the Welsh Government) useful.

Support staff

We are also aware that a majority of the education workforce working in supply in Wales comprises support staff, which the framework does not currently cover.

If you are working as a supply cover supervisor or teaching assistant, please contact us and let us know your concerns so we're able to raise them in Welsh Government meetings.

At Voice, we want the best deal for all of our members, whatever your role.
