Programme:

Providing inspirational ideas and motivation to aid learning outside the classroom, for people involved in education or childcare.

Keynote Speaker:

  • Tori James, the first Welsh woman to climb Mount Everest. Tori is an accomplished public speaker and her presentation will focus on success and how her challenges have tested her to the limit both physically and mentally. Her experiences have relevance to all of us whether at work or at home.

Workshops:

A discussion-based workshop for those who are involved with the organisation and management of educational (off-site) visits and outdoor learning for young people exploring the benefits of outdoor learning and educational visits, the barriers experienced and practical solutions. 

  • Managing Educational Visits and Outdoor Learning – benefits, barriers and solutions led by Owen Hayward of the Outdoor Pursuits Centre in Conwy and David Evans from the Educational School Improvements Services in South Wales, experienced practitioners who are involved in the delivery of learning outside the classroom in Wales. A discussion-based workshop for those who are involved with the organisation and management of educational (off-site) visits and outdoor learning for young people, exploring the benefits of outdoor learning and educational visits, the barriers experienced and practical solutions.  
     
  • Outdoor Learning: making it happen
    led by Owen Hayward and David EvansA practical session, based outdoors and around the Outdoor Education Advisers’ Panel (OEAP)’s Outdoor Learning Cards, for those who wish to deliver outdoor learning within their school/youth centre/educational establishment’s grounds and lowland countryside.
     
  • Workshop 3:  Developing Skills Outdoors
    led by Jan English – self-employed consultantFocusing on the Foundation Stage, delegates will explore a wide range of ideas to develop children’s skills, particularly language, literacy and communication, through outdoor opportunities for physical development and creative movement.
