Employment of Teachers in Scotland

Letter from COSLA and GTCS

Amidst reports of teachers being asked to take classes that they are not qualified to teach, the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) and the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA)  have felt compelled to write to Directors of Education, reminding them of what teachers should, and should not, be asked to do by way of their qualifications.

Voice will remain vigilant to the possibility of teachers being asked to take classes that they are not qualified to teach and challenge the practice wherever we see it emerging.
