At the Special General Meeting (SGM) on Saturday 21 September 2019, 87% of members voting at the meeting or by proxy supported the proposal to hold a ballot of the membership on whether there should be a Transfer of Undertakings (ToU) for Voice to join with the union Community.

A three-quarters majority was required for the ballot to take place, and this threshold was exceeded.

A postal ballot of all members will open on 21 October and close on 11 November 2019.

Voice General Secretary Deborah Lawson said:

“I am delighted that members will now have the opportunity to have a say on the future direction of their union.

“I urge all members to use their vote in the forthcoming ballot.

“Voice’s President, Council and I believe that the proposed transfer will secure a stronger, more productive future for our union – protecting and enhancing our services to members while increasing our influence, longevity and long-term sustainability.”
