Commenting on the annoucement by the First Minister today (16 February 2021), Senior Professional Officer (Scotland) Dougie Atkinson said:
“We welcome the phased and cautious return of pupils, but the promised appropriate mitigation measures must be in place to ensure the safety of staff and students.
“We also welcome the one off payment for teachers and lecturers involved in the delivery of National 5, Higher & Advanced Higher courses this year.
Remote learning to continue for majority
The majority of primary and secondary school pupils will continue with remote learning until at least mid-March while children in early learning and childcare (ELC) and primaries 1 to 3 will return full-time to classrooms from Monday 22 February, plus limited numbers of S4 - S6 pupils who require to complete practical work.
A one-off exceptional payment of £400 will be made to teachers & lecturers involved in the delivery of Nat 5, Higher & Advanced Higher courses this year. The payment reflects the extra workload of the assessment process this year pic.twitter.com/uny6yXJwZb
