Voice Official Response: Reducing the need for restraint and restrictive intervention

Background: This consultation is on new draft guidance on reducing the need for restraint and restrictive intervention for children and young people with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorder and mental health needs. The Department of Health and the Department for Education commissioned the Council for Disabled Children (CDC) to draft this guidance.

Summary:  Whilst the guidance states that children/young people and their parents/carers should be consulted, there is insufficient detail of how to do this most effectively. There should be child-friendly and parent-friendly versions of the guidance.
