Voice Official Response: Transforming children and young people’s mental health provision: a green paper
Background: The Government asked for views on a green paper setting out measures to improve mental health support for children and young people. The green paper focuses on earlier intervention and prevention, especially in and linked to schools and colleges.
Summary: We agree that the core proposals have the right balance of emphasis across the two sectors but, to be effective, there is a need for coherence, connectedness, inter-agency cooperation, sustainability, adequate resources (including funding), and a range of appropriate skills.
We feel that we have been taken through a number of restricted choices rather than an authentic consideration of the issues. In particular, there are no questions relating to system capacity.
